On March 14, 1900, fourteen familievaeters "fathers of families" gathered to plan the building of Redeemer Evangelical Church. On October 14, 1900, this community of faith gathered to worship our God.
Many of the extended families of the founders continue worshiping at Redeemer. The original dream of creating a warm and friendly Christian house to worship and praise God continues today.
THE UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST
We are a denomination created through four different traditions.
1. Congregational Churches that began in the 1620's with the Pilgrim settlers
2. Christian Churches which were organized by frontier people in 1820
3. The Reformed Churches that came from Switzerland and the Rhine Valley in the early 1700's
4. The Evangelical Churches that were organized in Germany and migrated to America in the early 1800's
In 1957 these four traditions united so that
"That We All Might Be One".
